50 Cent in child support court battle

The $25,000 a month in child support and household expenses that rapper 50 Cent pays to the mother of his 10-year-old son is not enough, says the boy's mother, Shaniqua Tompkins.
The rapper is "worth tens and tens of millions of dollars," said her attorney, Raoul Felder. The parents of young Marquise Jackson are wrangling over the issue in family court in this Long Island community, where 50 Cent arrived Friday in an armored SUV equipped with a satellite dish. 50 Cent no longer needs to worry about the choice he famously expressed on a 2004 album - "Get Rich or Die Tryin'." With his G-Unit record label, clothing line, ring tones and other enterprises, 50 Cent - whose real name is Curtis Jackson - reeled in an estimated $33 million in the past year, according to Forbes. He has sold more than 11 million albums and has a new album, "Curtis," due out in September. His lawyer, Brett Kimmel, called Tompkins "insatiable." "Her demands keep escalating," he told the Daily News. Closed-door hearings on the child-support case are scheduled to continue this coming week.

Timberlake attacks Swedish fans

Justin Timberlake has disappointed fans in Sweden by verbally attacking locals and spitting on them, according to reports. The star and his entourage, including girlfriend Jessica Biel, visited the Hard Rock Cafe in Gothenberg, and was called "f**k face" by a teenage fan after he refused to sign autographs. Timberlake is alleged to have retorted, "Are you calling me f**k face? Go f**k yourself." The youngster and his friends then followed the star back to the Elite Plaza hotel in the city, where the SexyBack star continued a bizarre tirade of abuse. An onlooker tells the Daily Mirror, "First a load of ping-pong balls came raining down (from his balcony). Then came a plastic bottle of water. After that, there was strawberries and fruit. And them came the phlegm!" Fan Nino Antonio El-Khoury was photographed by paparazzi with spit on the back of his clothing, which he claims was expelled from the mouth of Timberlake: "Justin spat on me". Local newspaper Aftonbladet also claims the singer was not on top form on his visit to the country, writing, "Justin was in a foul mood. Jessica wanted to take a picture of him and he was angry. He snapped, `Do you want me to juggle for you as well?'"

Led Zeppelin to reform

Led Zeppelin are reportedly about to reunite for a one-off memorial concert. If true, it would mark the third time that the 70s legends have played since disbanding. After the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980, founding members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones regrouped for Live Aid in 1985 (with Phil Collins) and for Atlantic Records' 40th Anniversary concert (with Bonham's son Jason). It is now suggested that the latter formation will play a special concert in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun in London. A source said: "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a definite date. And no-one can quite believe it, but during discussions about the concert they all gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't all fall out. "It has been hoped-for and denied for years. But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour. The feeling is that this is going to happen next year." Ertegun died in December 2006 following a fall at a Rolling Stones concert. The likes of Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks and Crosby, Stills & Nash all played his New York memorial in April of this year.

Ozzy sold his famous house

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have sold their famous house in Beverly Hills to Christina Aguilera. “I don’t want to stay in that house any more,” Ozzy reportedly said. “The house holds bad memories for me because it reminds me of the terrible time Sharon got cancer and of times when me and the kids were doped out of our minds.” Fair enough.

Kylie gets ready to party

Kylie Minogue is planning to throw an enormous party to mark the 20th anniversary of her music career, according to reports.

The Aussie pop rocket is lining-up a £500,000 bash in London in August, 20 years after the chart-topping success of her debut single "The Loco-motion".

The bash at a secret location will feature a star-studded guest list and is also expected to act as the launch for her new album and 2008 world tour.

"The date of the party is really significant to Kylie. When 'Loco-motion' went to No1 in Australia on August 3, 1987, it was the start of something special.

"She is even flying in old mates from Australia and begging her two grandmothers to make the long trip from Melbourne", a 'source' told The Sun.

"In some ways it's a celebration of the fact she has resumed her place in the music world after her illness.

"It's also a chance for her to thank all the people who assisted and encouraged her, especially in Australia where her talent was overlooked for a long time."

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster married on Saturday

In a ceremony nearly eight years in the making, the whiskey-throated British rock star and leggy blonde model swapped vows in a 17th-century villa in Santa Margherita Ligure, on the Italian Riviera. A handful of witnesses assembled for the half-hour civil ceremony, which was conducted by a town official. The bride wore a white satin dress, while the groom kept it casual in blue pants and a white jacket. Afterwards, Stewart, 62, and Lancaster, 36, retreated to a local restaurant to rendezvous with their 19-month-old son, Alastair. The newlyweds posed for pictures at the harbor before being shuttled to Stewart's yacht docked offshore. Other family members, including Stewart's daughter Kimberley, were spotted at a pre-matrimony ceremony Friday night. This is the first marriage for Lancaster and third for Stewart. The couple hooked up following the demise of the "Forever Young" singer's union with Sports Illustrated swimsuit icon Rachel Hunter in 1999, and became engaged atop the Eiffel Tower in March 2005, four months after Alastair's birth. But the wedding plans had to be put on hold because Stewart and Hunter remained legally married. They finally got around to finalizing their divorce last November, paving the way for Saturday's nuptials. Before that the Grammy-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was married to another blonde babe, Alana Stewart. In all, he has seven kids from his various relationships.

Bonnaroo festival - Day One

A headlining performance from quirky hard rock act Tool and a once-in-a-lifetime jam session between Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, guitarist Ben Harper and drummer ?uestlove highlighted the first full day (June 15) of the Bonnaroo festival, which has drawn 80,000 people to rural Manchester, Tenn.

Tool drew a massive crowd to the main stage for a set heavy on material from the band's latest album, "10,000 Days," including the single "The Pot," as well as older hits such as "Stinkfist" and "Schism." Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello joined the group near the end of its set for "Lateralus" and conjured a tornado of sound from his instrument. Earlier, frontman Maynard James Keenan teased the dusty, dirty audience by gloating about the hot shower he had taken. "Thank you for putting up with our cynical attitudes," he said near the end of the performance.

As midnight passed, Jones, Harper and ?uestlove treated an amped-up, overflow crowd at the Other Tent to frequently jaw-dropping jams on Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks," "Good Times, Bad Times" and "Dazed and Confused," the latter a 25-minute epic that drove the audience into hysterics. The impromptu trio also covered Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues" and Stevie Wonder's "Superstition," the later with the help of Roots guitarist Kirk Douglas.
DJ Shadow held down the fort in the This Tent during a set that began after 2 a.m. The artist mixed and matched elements from throughout his song catalog, such as laying the vocal melody from "Six Days" atop the hip-hop beats of "Walkie Talkie." Other highlights included "Changeling," from Shadow's acclaimed 1996 debut "Endtroducing," and "3 Freaks," the first single from his 2006 release "The Outsider."

Def Leppard almost finished with new CD

Def Leppard is “about 85, 90 percent finished” with its next album, which singer Joe Elliott says it is “a very rock album” tentatively titled “Songs From the Sparkle Lounge.”

“I’m not gonna say it’s radically different to anything we’ve ever done,” Elliott tells Billboard.com. “There’s classic Def Leppard. There’s stuff that sounds like it’s going back to the middle, late-’70s AC/DC and new wave-type sounding stuff. There’s definitely some moments on it where anybody that’s familiar with our music will go, ‘Whoa! I wasn’t expecting that!’ We’ve just been very adventurous, musically, on certain numbers.”

Elliott says the “Sparkle Lounge” album title refers to a room the group maintained backstage during its 2006 tour dates, where the musicians would congregate with co-producer and live sound technician Ronan McHugh to work up and record ideas.

“It was a mini (drum) kit, mini amps, a tape recorder and sparkly lights,” Elliott recalls. “It had to be on call, like a doctor, so if somebody went, ‘I’ve got this idea, you just run it, plug up, turn on and bang it out, and then you could work on it over the next few days. We’ve never, ever written on the road before, so this definitely came from a different head space.”

Elliott says Def Leppard has finished 11 songs during month-long stints in January and April in Dublin. He expects the group to work on at least two more songs before settling on a final track list and release date. It will be Def Leppard’s first set of new material since 2002’s (awesome and underated) “X” and follows the 2006 covers collection “Yeah!”

But Elliott says the group won’t be previewing any of the new songs on the road this summer, where it’s touring mostly with Styx and Foreigner. “Nowadays, you play one song and it’s gonna be on YouTube two minutes later and everyone will know it six months before the thing comes out,” Elliott says. “That’s just a sad indictment of the way things are.”

Eminem slams Mariah Carey on new songs

A series of new tracks will reveal intimate details about Eminem's brief affair with Mariah Carey, according to reports. The rapper is releasing the music - which draws lyrical inspiration from his 2001 fling with the pop star - despite Carey pleading label head L.A. Reid to block the release of the offending cuts. A source tells OK! magazine, "There is more than one track that goes into really specific, intimate detail about what went on between Em and Mariah. "Mariah wishes she could sue Eminem for slander. But it's his freedom of speech."

Crowded House - 'Time On Earth' - Review

'Don't Stop Now', is the first release from the newly reformed Crowded House and is taken from their eagerly anticipated long player, 'Time On Earth', which is due for release on 2nd July 2007. The single, a hook filled gem that genuinely seems to get better with every listen, is reminiscent of many of Finn's uplifting, Beatlesque compositions. Lead guitar is supplied by the music industries hired gun of choice Johnny Marr, who adds his signature guitar playing throughout. The band have also recruited Beck's drummer Matt Sherrod into the fold, who has stepped nicely into Hester's shoes, giving the band an extra dynamic and lets hope some stability.

The single bodes well for the imminent arrival of the long player and is a definitely going to be one of the feel good hits of the summer.
